Easy Homemade Bread Recipe

I LOVE bread and have always wanted to make it myself, but never knew I had the right equipment at home. Now that I’ve taken the time to research how to actually make it, I don’t know why I waited so long! Below is our favorite new recipe. It’s so easy to make and I know fresh baked bread will be on repeat in our home! Sharing our easy homemade bread recipe, plus a few different special ingredients to try.

Homemade Bread Recipe

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 tsp sea salt
  • 1/2 tsp active dry yeast (we got ours at Albertsons)
  • 1 1/2 cups room temp water
  • Other possible ingredients you can add to your recipe:
    • 3/4 cup chopped fresh rosemary (mixed into dough)
    • 2 tbs sesame seeds (lightly wet dough and sprinkle on top before placing in dutch oven)
    • 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips (mixed into dough)

Instructions

  • Mix flour, sea salt, special ingredient (unless sesame seeds) and yeast together. Mix in water and use a spatula to mix until combined.
  • Cover bowl and allow to sit overnight, at least 12 hours.
  • Once ready to bake, preheat oven to 450 °F. While heating, place dutch oven* (no dutch oven? no worries! see below) in oven to also preheat.
  • Add flour to your work space and form dough into a ball. No need to knead the bread but you just want to ensure you get it to a shape you want!
  • Place the dough into the preheated dutch oven*, replace the lid.
  • Bake for 30 minutes. Then remove the lid and bake for another 15-20 minutes until bread is a golden brown.
  • Cut into slices and enjoy!

*Tip: if you don’t have a dutch oven, it is OK! Just use the heaviest pot you have with a lid.

Hope you enjoy this homemade bread recipe as much as we do! Once you start making your own bread, it’s hard to go back. It also makes for a fun family activity, especially right now while we are all at home. Make sure to tag me in your photos on Instagram. Can’t wait to see your bread creations!
